Qualifications required:

· GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or higher

Langdon Academy is a large, richly diverse school for pupils aged 4 to 16. We are looking to appoint suitably qualified and/or experienced graduate teaching assistants to work with pupils in our secondary phase, either to support students’ learning in the mainstream or to provide more focused individual support (often 1:1) for the ASD students in our Resourced Provision. SEND and Resourced Provision are seen as strengths in the school and you will be joining a highly professional, caring and committed team, if appointed. In addition to your degree, you’ll also need a very good level of literacy and numeracy.

Whilst experience of working with young people in an education setting would be an advantage, we will welcome applications from highly-qualified and strongly motivated candidates who are looking for an opening into a career in education. This role may suit graduates wishing to gain experience in school before embarking on teacher training. Needless to say, you will need to have a real desire and passion to work with children, especially the most vulnerable.

Whatever your experience, we will provide training and support to enable you to play a vital role in helping our pupils achieve success, whilst developing your own career prospects.

Candidates should indicate any subject specialism which may help to match candidates to student needs.

About Langdon Academy

Langdon Academy is a mixed, non-denominational all-through academy school for three to 16-year-olds located in East Ham in the east London borough of Newham. It has capacity for just over 2,400 pupils.

The school is part of the Brampton Manor Trust, a multi-academy trust which also runs Brampton Manor Academy. Langdon Academy (previously Langdon School) joined the trust in 2014.

The school was originally three separate institutions, built in 1953. In 1972, these schools - Burges Manor, Thomas Lethaby and East Ham Grammar School - were combined to form Langdon School, a mixed comprehensive that would later become Langdon Academy.
