Founded in 1512, it is one of the oldest schools in the country and the top independent school in Wolverhampton. The School is a popular choice for parents and demand for places is high. The School is large enough to be able to offer an experience like no other and yet personal enough to adapt our approach to suit the ambitions and interests of individual children.  We provide this experience to boys and girls from Reception through to Year 13 (ages 4 – 18) across our Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form and our students come from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures. Their knowledge and skills are diverse, and are a source of strength and richness to the school.

Curriculum

All our staff help us fulfil our mission as a school and our students go on to achieve great things. Our highly skilled staff work with students to ensure their curriculum is right for them. We can do this because of small class sizes and flexibility within our academic structures. Our school community inspires openness, trust and mutual respect. We know that a challenging education requires a supportive, caring environment as well as a blend of skills and a mind-set that embraces diversity and difference.

Wolverhampton Grammar School has long been known for its approachability and the human dimension we bring to teaching. All our students are treated warmly as individuals. Their opinions are valued – this is because we know that our school thrives on the relationship between our students, their parents and our staff and the active role that we all play.

Entry Requirements

The School accepts applications to the Junior, Senior School and Sixth Form throughout the year.   We are a selective, independent school and to ensure our school is the right fit for your child we ask all applicants to sit an assessment/entrance test relevant to their year of entry. Applicants to the Sixth Form are also invited to meet with the Head of Sixth Form.

A range of scholarships and bursaries are available.

For us, education is not just about academic achievement, it’s about making a difference. Every member of our school community has a belief that we can all make a difference. We will all play a part in equipping students to develop a love of learning.
