Graduate Teaching Assistant/Sports Coach 

Job Description

Responsibilities  

• To be available in a teaching assistant capacity on a daily basis as and where required in Years 2- 8.

• On Thursday mornings, to carry out the role of Teaching Assistant in a class of Year 2 boys as directed by the Class Teacher.

• To coach the three major sports of Football, Rugby, and Cricket each afternoon on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, in two separate training sessions: Years 2-4, and then Years 5-8.

• To be a team coach on a Wednesday and Saturday afternoon for matches against other schools and/or take training sessions as required.

• Provision of two activities on Thursday afternoons as required.

• Provision of two activities from 6.45pm to 7.30pm in the Michaelmas and Lent Terms, and one evening activity at the same time in the Summer Term.

• To work on the school grounds on one morning a week.

• To help with the supervision of hot chocolate to the boarders after evening activities.

• To assist with duties in the Junior Boarding House on one evening each week.

• Assistance with minor administrative tasks as required from time to time.

• Supervision of ‘prep’ rooms as required.

• Duty to promote and safeguard the welfare of the boys.

• Ability to assist in the teaching of all boys in the classroom.

• Ability to inspire boys to feel confident and secure in the classroom.

• Ability to inspire boys to feel confident to apply skills learned in the classroom.

• Ability to enable boys to enjoy their work in the classroom

• Ability to coach the three major sports effectively to boys from Year 2 to Year 8.

• Ability to communicate with parents effectively.

• Ability to work as part of a team.

• A good sense of humour.

• Willingness to promote and safeguard the welfare of all the boys.
