About the role

Reporting to the Manager: Creative & Studio, The Graphic Designer Assistant will support our Graphic Designers with a range of quality resources that support all SCS with its marketing and communications needs.

Major Accountabilities

The Graphic Designer Assistant is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:

  • contributing to design solutions for our internal stakeholders
  • creating digital content for websites and social media
  • contributing to projects from concept/initial briefing through to completion
  • collaborating to create ideas and developing high quality and contextualised designs across print and digital formats
  • supporting brand development and ensuring consistency across all brand applications
  • conducting consultation, planning, review and feedback processes as part of the workflow
  • contributing to the development, maintenance and updating internal and external templates over a number of platforms; Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Suite. Ensuring visual content is appropriately filed and accessible within the data asset management system (DAMS)
  • promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools’ mission To know and love Christ through learning and vision of Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
  • promoting and abiding by Sydney Catholic Schools’ values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth
  • any other duties as directed from time to time.

The Person

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • tertiary qualification in Graphic Design with a minimum of one year of professional experience
  • demonstrated intermediate skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other Adobe packages
  • foundational understanding of digital layouts and composition
  • demonstrated knowledge and understanding of industry-standard graphic design principles
  • demonstrated Intermediate skills with digital/website design
  • demonstrated a high level of creative flair with high attention to detail
  • demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pre-press and printing processes
  • demonstrated strong organisation and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • a valid Working With Children Check clearance (WWC) number
  • willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.
