Hard Materials Technology Teacher (ref# 38181)

Waitaki Boys’ High School, a traditional boys school in the North Otago region of New Zealand, is looking for a hard materials teacher who is experienced in delivering Design Technology to senior level. The role will be key in the introduction of Engineering and Construction into the curriculum. You will be joining the largest curriculum area in an extremely well-resourced and student-focused department. This position is permanent, full-time and begins in January 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The environment and traditions of the school have exercised a remarkable effect upon generations of boys. The school is known for its pastoral focus and emphasis on student engagement. The role of 400 is mainly made up of students from rural backgrounds with the school also offering boarding facilities to 46 students. Students are practical, hard-working and come from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience and be confident in teaching design technology to senior level;
  • Have a recognised teaching qualification;
  • Proven experience in working with wood & metal to senior level;
  •  Be willing to embrace a digital environment (MS365, laser cutter, CAD) and to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school;
  • Having industry experience in design, trades or engineering is a bonus but not essential.

Newly qualified teachers will also be considered.
