St Edmund’s School Canterbury is seeking an outstanding and inspirational candidate to take up the position of Head in September 2018. This exciting opportunity has arisen on the appointment of the current Head as Master of Marlborough College and we are seeking someone with the vision and dynamism to continue the school’s highly successful programme of development.

St Edmund’s is an historic day and boarding co-educational school where a family atmosphere is fostered, individuals are valued, and pupils enjoy a rich academic and cultural experience. Set within a beautiful site overlooking the city and Cathedral of Canterbury, it offers a happy, vibrant and creative environment within a supportive community. With nearly 600 pupils ranging from age 3 to 18, the school places an emphasis on both academic rigour and broad extra-curricular involvement. Our pupils include the Choristers of Canterbury Cathedral.

The Head is responsible for the leadership and management of all staff and the day-to-day running of the school. Supported by a strong leadership team covering academic, pastoral, prep, pre-prep and bursarial functions, the Head must be able to manage diverse challenges while providing direction and leadership across a wide variety of activities. Stamina, mental agility, an approachable personality and calmness under pressure are key attributes that we seek.
