Head Chef and Catering Manager

An exciting opportunity has opened at Saint Felix School. We are looking for a Head Chef and Catering manager. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a hospitality or catering background to work in our fantastic school.

This is a permanent full time position. You will be working 5 days from 7 per week. The days are on a rota basis. Our Kitchen is open from 7am to 7:30 pm.

Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 2 – 18, located close to the glorious seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Our aim is to develop well-rounded students with the skills and the personality to make a success of their lives during and after their school years.

We are looking for a Head Chef & Catering Manager who can run the kitchen, dining hall and refectory operations and fulfil the food and beverage needs of the School for staff, day pupils, boarding pupils and visitors during term time. During the school holidays the Head Chef & Catering Manager will manage the catering requirements of events & lettings and plan menus with appropriate costings as well as dietary plans.

As Head Chef & Catering Manager you will be required to work as part of a team to help achieve the overall aims of the school. You must lead by example with a hands-on approach to leading a small team. Approximately 80% of your time will be spent cooking, we are looking for someone who will be heavily involved in the kitchen.    

The school kitchen is a busy operation offering a food service to over 450 staff and pupils seven days a week during term time and for commercial letting that takes place outside of term-time. The team is comprised of Chefs, Catering Assistants and Kitchen Porters. As a team you will be responsible for delivering high quality food from raw ingredients in both the dining room and 6th Form Refectory Café.

We are looking for a proactive experienced individual who can lead the catering team. The ability to deliver at an outstanding level is essential as well as providing excellent customer service to all our pupils, parents and occasional members of the public.
