Job overview

There are few headships in the prep school world that can match that of Foremarke Hall. It combines leading a large, successful and fantastically resourced prep school with participating in the reshaping of the Repton/Foremarke all-through education under the inspiring leadership of Alastair Land. In addition, there is an opportunity to be involved in the development of prep and junior schools in the international market. This role is at the cutting edge of prep school leadership.

The Governors invite applications for the post upon the retirement of Richard Merriman in December 2018, following seven years of very successful leadership.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator who can engage with parents and their children in such a way as to inspire from a position of substance. He/she will be well-qualified and a first-rate teacher with a proven leadership record. He/she will probably have several years’ experience in a Senior Leadership role.

For a confidential discussion about the role, please contact Angela Short: AngelaShort@RSAcademics.co.uk or call her on 07786 134195

Repton Prep is co-educational boarding and day school with over 400 pupils, aged from 3 to 13, set in the fifty-acre grounds of an eighteenth century Palladian mansion in South Derbyshire.

As a school, we believe that the most valuable education is one that is broad and balanced, enabling children to enjoy their childhood whilst benefiting from a wonderful range of opportunities both in and out of the classroom. We aim to encourage our children to use their minds well, to understand that with privilege comes responsibility, to make wise judgments; to be able to discriminate between good and better, between right and wrong. We believe that physical activity is important for growing children and that many important lessons for life are learnt in this arena.

Finally, we believe that no education is complete without a spiritual element to it, teaching children to appreciate beauty, to be creative and to value faith. With these elements in place, Repton Prep aims to produce young people at thirteen who are confident, who are achieving well in and out of the classroom and who are appreciative of the needs of others around them. Such young people will be well prepared for the senior phase of their education and for life beyond.
