Job overview

RSAcademics are delighted to be working with The Cothill Trust and invite applications for the position of Head of Ashdown House Preparatory School.

Ashdown House is a co-educational IAPS boarding and day prep school, situated on the edge of the beautiful Ashdown Forest in Sussex. It is one of the most well-regarded traditional prep schools in the country, with a great heritage and reputation, often described as unique and magical. Children are free to enjoy the beautiful and extensive 40-acre grounds, while living and working in a warm and friendly environment. Founded in 1886, the school prides itself on its wonderful sense of community, which is ingrained in every aspect of school life. The ethos of the school encourages children to express themselves with confidence and to be creative in all that they do, whilst nurturing them in preparation for life beyond Ashdown House.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a well-established prep school in a wonderful setting within The Cothill Trust, a UK charity committed to providing high standard preparatory school education across a diverse range of day and boarding schools. The new Head will work closely alongside the Trust and its new CEO, Tom Beardmore-Gray, to ensure success and modernisation of the school, benefiting from the resources available to them through the Trust. Together, you will work to put a strategy in place to take Ashdown House to a new level.

The Directors of the Trust seek an individual with vision, energy, outstanding leadership and first-class communication skills, who is excited to be working with the Trust and a school with a longstanding tradition and a bright future. You will possess strong marketing skills and have the wisdom and expertise to take the school on the next phase of its journey. Ultimately, you will have the courage and determination to drive the school and the strategy forward with the Trust.
