Cokethorpe's PE Department is looking for a Head of Academic PE to join their vibrant, dynamic and exciting team. Consisting of four full-time and one part-time member of staff, it offers pupils the opportunity to study Physical Education from First Form (Year 7) to GCSE and A Level. It is a popular choice at the School; typically, there are at least two classes at both higher stages.
Essential
- A degree that is relevant to the delivery of Physical Education to A Level
- Excellent subject knowledge and ability to teach Physical Education from First Form (Year 7) to A Level
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with pupils, parents and staff
- A commitment to giving regular and effective verbal and written feedback to pupils in order to facilitate their development as learners
- A willingness to share ideas, experience and resources
- High standards of written and oral communication
- Good ICT skills
- Ability to work to deadlines
- A commitment to high standards, including working with the Department to continually evaluate and improve teaching and learning
- A commitment to valuing and respecting the views and needs of children and young people
- Willingness to contribute to the wider School life including the sports programme, co-curricular commitments, the activities programme and the tutoring and House systems
Desirable
- An interest in education that goes beyond the delivery of a specific subject
- A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience of teaching Edexcel Physical Education at A Level
