Head of Academy

The Aga Khan Academy, MaputoMozambique

His Highness, the Aga Khan is establishing a network of residential schools across East Africa, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East. His vision is to create a global learning community where exceptional young people from any background can develop the capacity to become future leaders of civil society. Aga Khan Academies have been opened in Mombasa, Kenya, in Hyderabad, India, and in Maputo, Mozambique in this developing, integrated learning network. The next Academy is due to open in Dhaka, Bangladesh in July 2022.

The network now seeks a Head of Academy, Maputo to succeed the incumbent in January 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. The Head of Academy will be the Chief Executive of the school and AKDN’s most senior education leader in Mozambique in what is AKDN’s flagship project. They will be tasked with championing the Academy, engaging actively in all aspects of its life, and inspiring and delivering the next phase of its development.

The ideal candidate will combine a track record of successful school leadership in an IB context with a deep sense of cultural awareness and a global perspective. Refined communication skills and the political acumen required to work with diverse stakeholder groups are essential. Candidates must demonstrate a genuine resonance with the mission behind the Aga Khan Academies project and the wider vision of His Highness, the Aga Khan, exemplified by the Aga Khan Development Network (www.akdn.org).
