Job Summary

The Head of Activities is responsible for delivering his/her own high quality sessions and providing leadership to the Department as a whole, ensuring activities are well planned and delivered. A positive mind set, excellent communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international environment are all pre-requisites for the position. The primary responsibilities of the role are to:

• Lead all aspects of the Activities programme

• Ensure all sessions are properly prepared and executed in order to inspire our students

• Monitor the presence and behaviour of students at all times

• Organise excursions

Abbey College in Malvern, a vibrant co-educational boarding school based in Malvern, is currently recruiting a Head of Activities for its Summer School (June-August). The role is residential and involve leading a high quality activities programme for international students visiting the UK.

Working Arrangements:

Monday to Sunday, with one weekend day off provided each week. Working hours will typically be from early afternoon till student bedtime.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Degree-desirable

Experience in leading activities to groups of international students - essential

An enthusiastic, flexible can-do approach

Excellent communication and team working skills, with experience of leading small teams - essential

Accredited sports/arts coaching status-highly desirable

First aid and lifeguard qualifications - desirable

Full board and accommodation is provided.

The role is a temporary position, running from: 16th June to 1st September, 2019. You will be required to attend a one-day induction session along with activity leaders on 15th June.

Abbey College is a mixed, independent, non-denominational, secondary international boarding school, situated on a 70-acre campus in Malvern, Worcestershire. There are 49 students aged 14-19 on the school roll, 46 of whom are boarding students. 

The site of the current Abbey College has been used for education since 1874, with the original main building built in 1863. Facilities now include a library, computer rooms, three science laboratories, 15 classrooms, common room areas, cinema, disco, multi-gym and sporting facilities.
