We are seeking to appoint a Head of Admissions who is enthusiastic, inspiring and committed to lead on and have overall responsibility for all Prep Department, Senior School, and Sixth Form aspects of admissions work at St. Francis' College.

The successful candidate should be proactive, passionate and able to work well in a team. Reporting directly to the Head as well as key stakeholders this is a crucial role in the development of St. Francis' College.

Set in the midst of Letchworth Garden City, St. Francis' College has been providing a first class education for girls for over 85 years, blending traditional values and a modern vision.

St. Francis’ College has been recognised for its outstanding academic results, pastoral support and the extensive range of extracurricular activities available for students.

This varied role will involve taking ownership of and ensuring the swift handling of admissions-related enquiries to St. Francis' College. You will work closely with and influence the Head to drive positive change and action in order to improve the prospective parent journey from enquiry to place acceptance.

Key responsibilities will include admissions, Visa arrangement and continued communication with both internal and external partners.

As our Head of Admissions you will be responsible for but not limited to;

  • Managing and implementing an efficient and effective admissions procedure.
  • Quickly grasping each enquirer’s needs and effectively selling the benefits of the relevant school or nursery to meet their needs.
  • Ensuring timely and effective handling of enquiries and accurate recording of data in a central CRM system.
  • Taking responsibility for the overall management and development of the schools CRM system.
  • Building effective relationships and processes with the relevant school and nursery staff to enable swift bookings of visits/tours.
  • Managing the admissions policies and procedures to ensure that they are efficient and compliant.
  • Working alongside the Marketing Team to create email templates and implement innovative communications initiatives to drive admissions conversion.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Team, take a proactive approach to encourage prospective parents along the admissions process and gain valuable insight from any families that withdraw.
  • Establishing and implementing KPI reporting on a weekly and monthly basis to review performance and adjust activities where necessary.
  • Influence and train others to improve admissions conversion.
  • Ensure the arrangements for testing, interviewing of, and feedback of prospective pupils, including entrance assessment days, scholarships, and other award interviews are undertaken to ensure compliance, where applicable, to the UKVI Sponsor duties including maintenance of logs and keeping up-to-date with the new regulations.

  • Previous experience of managing a busy admissions department within the education sector.
  • Experience of achieving targets.
  • Previous experience of working closely with marketing teams.
  • Effective stakeholder management with the ability to influence.
  • Experience of inputting into KPI reporting.

  • Exemplary customer service skills with a sales-focused approach.
  • Energised by working towards targets.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Be IT literate and competent in the use of CRM databases and Excel.
  • Be an excellent communicator and relationship builder.

  • Attention to detail.


Whilst a background in Admissions would be beneficial, it is by no means a necessity in applying for this role. The ability to create the right culture built on enthusiasm and passion for the role combined with strong administrative skills are equally important. This role would also suit someone with strong skills in professions such as sales, hospitality and events planning as well as those with a teaching background up to at least middle leadership level who might be looking for an interesting career professional development opportunity.
