This post is responsible for the Academic Studies (academic, advanced and accredited courses) programmes within the School of Performing Arts

The Head of Programme will work with the Head of School to develop and implement a strategic plan for the programmes reflecting School and College priorities regarding growth plans and quality improvement. Provide strategic and operational leadership and management to the programme team in the delivery of these objectives.

Leading and motivating a team of staff and tutors this role is key to the programme’s success and our strategic goal of putting the audience at the heart of what we do. This role works closely with the Head of School and the Insight and Innovation Commissioner to ensure that the design and delivery of the programmes is creative and responsive to the market.

The role will also lead with the Head of School on developing and implementing the Quality Improvement strategy for the School of Performing Arts.

What we are looking for (Please address the specific criteria below within your covering letter and attach to your CV file):

Experience of designing and delivering an innovative and distinctive curriculum programme in response to identified market needs and to successfully attract new students

Have experience of managing a diverse team in an educational setting or learning environment, proactively creating a positive working environment and effectively leading a high performing team that contributes to organisational success.

Can understand a commercial business model, make and execute successful plans, budget and manage resources and risk effectively to meet financial growth targets

Demonstrate an understanding of the teaching, learning and assessment needs of adult learners, ensuring that an outstanding student experience drives quality improvement

Have outstanding spoken and written communication skills, a proven ability to work collaboratively, and the capacity to lead, inspire and influence others, raising the profile of the School and City Lit to external stakeholders

Experience of teaching and managing academic non-accredited courses in performing arts 

Knowledge and previous experience with teaching and managing accredited courses, esp. OCN London

Understanding of curriculum design in modular accredited courses

ability to liaise with external exam bodies e.g. Trinity College, Associated Boards of the Royal Schools of Music to enter students for examination and arrange exam sittings
