Head of Art and Design – Lower School, Early Years and Key Stage 1

If you have good knowledge of, and/or experience in, art/design education in the Early Years Foundation Stage or the KS1 curriculum framework and a commitment to holistic child development, make the move to St Paul’s Girls’ School new sister school in Chengdu, China.
Sheng Bo International School is the first international government backed school opened as a partnership between SPGS International and Herald Education Hong Kong. A vibrant, co-educational day school, it will offer a full British Curriculum enhanced with the best elements of Chinese culture and learning. The plan is to start out with early primary provision but grow over the years ahead into a full K-12 school.
As Head of Art and Design, you will lead a department and teach the subject at EYFS and KS1 in accordance with the school’s policies and guidelines. We will also rely on you to establish a culture and love of art and design amongst students, regardless of their art background. Planning lessons with other teachers, sharing ideas, approaches and professional knowledge and helping to develop the school curriculum are all aspects of this exciting role that’s based in the prosperous, fast-growing Hi-Tech District of Chengdu – a city that offers an exceptional living and working environment.
To apply, you will need Qualified Teacher Status (UK), PGCE or a Degree in Education plus a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Fine Art or a relevant subject area. You will also need at least two years’ art teaching experience in Early Years education and/or Key Stage 1/2 education in the UK and a proven ability to teach the age range of 3-7. You will benefit from close links with St Paul’s Girls’ School in London and have plenty of opportunity to share ideas with UK counterparts.
