Head of Art & Photography

Doha CollegeDoha, Qatar

About us

Doha College is a high-profile leading British International School, for children aged 3-18, offering a well-balanced, all-embracing curriculum that follows the UK National Curriculum. We are also the first High Performance Learning accredited school in the world. It is an exceptionally exciting time for the school as we recently opened our brand-new pioneering, 90,000m² state-of-the-art campus and marked our 40th year anniversary.

The opportunity

We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic individual as Head of Art & Photography.

Teaching Key Stages 3 to 5, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a busy department and for instilling a passion for Art and Photography in students, while monitoring and evaluating student achievement.

To be successful, you will have experience of managing and supporting a team of staff and be someone who can showcase their own work, while inspiring students to take risks, develop creative skills and build self-confidence. The ideal candidate would be fluent in the use of technology within the classroom including the creative use of an iPad.

The Art and Photography Department consists of 4 full-time teachers and offers a rich program of Art education at all levels from Key Stage 3, leading to GCSE and A Level examinations. At Key Stage 3, the department offers its own teaching programme which is based on the UK curriculum tailored to the needs of an international student body. At Key Stage 4, a two-year linear GCSE course with Edexcel/Pearson is offered in both Art and Photography. This is also mirrored in the 6th Form where we offer A Level qualifications in Fine Art and Photography. The department is a highly successful and well-established department, regularly securing “best in the world” for its examination students across both GCSE and A Level. To be successful, you will be able to reinforce and enrich the department further with your passion and expertise.

All our classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards and displays, and all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry.

We are a British international school and all of our lessons are taught in English, therefore a high standard of written and spoken English is essential, along with a detailed knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
