Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Head of Art with a relevant degree who has a positive outlook and is willing to work hard, demonstrates excellence in the classroom and who is skilled at building relationships with pupils and colleagues. We would equally be able to support an experienced and ambitious Teacher of Art, keen to step into their first leadership role.

The Art Department in the Senior School is well established and characterised by a strong sense of collaboration and the pursuit of outstanding pupil progress. We strive to offer a curriculum that develops skills and creativity as well as offering a rich and diverse range of experiences to inspire learners. Pupils experience personalised learning experiences in small classes that are further complemented by co-curricular clubs, practitioner workshops and visits to galleries. Art is a popular subject and pupils achieve outstanding results at both GCSE and A level. The department is very well resourced and teachers are supported by a full time art technician. In addition, the department enjoys being part of the wider Creative Arts team alongside thriving music and drama departments.

In addition, the successful candidate must be able to model the highest standards and expectations, leading with empathy and be prepared to hold others to account, instilling a passion for the arts across the College.

Leadership opportunities are also available to candidates starting in August 2025. There will be additional responsibility positions available from August 2025 as Whole College Sustainability and Whole College Digital Strategy leads. If you are interested in either of these positions, please note this on your application.
