Job overview

The Head of Asia is a high profile, senior position with autonomy, management and leadership of the Asia Pacific region. This includes China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and several other countries. Currently managing the Head of China and a Senior South-East Asia Sales Manager, you will be both hands on and strategic with your guidance and work within the region. 

The Head of Asia will be responsible for the region’s agent relationships, new business development, schools strategy, direct students and recruitment management. You will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position and will hold a similar role within the sector. This is an ideal opportunity for somebody with drive and vision that is well known amongst agents and looking to build and develop the excellent work that has already taken place within the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Senior Management
  • Manage the Asia Pacific region, including direct line management responsibility for the Head of China and Senior SE Asia sales manager, as well as overall management responsibility for the region
  • Support the Head of China with China team management including hiring, training and staff development
  • Support the Global Head of Sales with strategic projects
  • Be a senior spokesperson for Abbey DLD within the region
  • Management of all sales channels
  • Be an active influencer on the development of the ‘Gold Standard’, continually feeding back to the colleges (and schools) ways to improve our educational product

Targets 

  • Achieve recruitment targets for China and South East Asia for all 3 Abbey DLD colleges
  • Ensure exceptional customer service to all key stakeholders
  • Work with key internal teams to maintain and develop customer service and efficiencies within the application proces
  • Train, mentor and develop the team
  • Developing a conversion culture and manage the region’s conversion targets 
  • Processes and Operational Management
  • Overall budget responsibility for the region
  • Oversee the operations of Abbey DLD in Asia, including personnel and payroll management for China.
  • Assist with arranging academic visits to the region
  • Analysis of student recruitment data and trends, identifying opportunities to maximise student recruitment and providing management information 

New Business Development 

  • Develop the region in terms of new markets, opportunities and agent relationships
  • Aiding business development activities in the region. This may include assisting Alpha Plus investments in Asia (eg establishing a local school) or assisting future partners who wish to invest with Alpha Plus in Hong Kong

About You 

  • An undergraduate degree
  • Extensive experience of the Asia Pacific region
  • Willing to travel around 20 weeks of the year
  • Knowledge of a CRM system, online campaigns and lead management
  • Excellent management skills including examples of staff training and development
  • Substantial practical experience of strategic recruitment of international students
  • Strong experience in leading and managing sales staff to on-target results, within budget
  • Budget management experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A strategic outlook and hands on, proactive attitude
  • Conversion management experience
