The Headmistress is the current President of the Girls’ Schools Association.

On the appointment of our current Head of Boarding to be the Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care for one of King’s College School, Wimbledon’s new school development projects in China, we are seeking to appoint a high-performing and strategic individual to work alongside the Headmistress, to take the school’s boarding and international relations programme successfully forward. 

We are looking for: 

  • A person who challenges themselves and others to deliver the best boarding experience possible for our students and their parents in an increasingly competitive boarding environment
  • A successful track record of leadership and of implementing visionary,      strategic change management at a senior level, ideally in a multicultural boarding environment
  • An unswerving commitment to achieving the strict internal and external governance and compliance standards required of a UK day and boarding school

St Mary’s School is a girls-only, non-selective, Roman Catholic, all-through school with sixth form situated in Cambridge. It is an independent school with day and boarding options. A smaller than average school, it provides 750 places for junior, senior and sixth-form students between the ages of 3 and 18 when fully subscribed.

The school was founded by sisters from the Congregation of Jesus in 1898. They drew their inspiration from 17th-century religious sister the Venerable Mary Ward, basing it on her vision of the essential dignity of each human.
