We wish to appoint an experienced Head of Boarding to manage our boarding house and to further develop the boarding in the school. Boarding at Heathside is growing and this represents a really exciting opportunity help shape its future development. 

Heathside is a dynamic place to work where the care of the pupils is central to all that we do. A strong commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people is of paramount importance.

The successful applicant will be experienced in boarding and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be responsible for all aspects of boarding, including the day-to-day operations, within the school, also working as one of the resident house parents. Expertise of the National Minimum Standards for Boarding is essential. 

This is a full-time post and accommodation is provided within the boarding house. 

Applications are invited from a highly motivated Head of Boarding with outstanding expertise to join a strong and dedicated team. The candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to the vision and the values of the school.

Essential

  • Sensitivity and empathy.
  • Patience and a sense of humour.
  • Physically able to undertake all the physical requirements of the post and use equipment according to Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Significant experience in boarding
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisation and administration skills.
  • Flexibility to deal with changing needs of a busy boarding community.
  • Ability to cope calmly and effectively with emergencies when they arise.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Good team player, co-operative and helpful.
  • Good judgement and clear thinking.
  • The desire and willingness to participate in across the School activities.
