Job overview

Following the promotion of a member of the team, the Governors at Menorah Grammar School are seeking to appoint a Head of PE to start in either January or April 2023.

Suitable candidates will be a qualified PE teacher with experience working within a boy’s PE department, able to deliver consistently outstanding lessons in both core PE and at GCSE and A-Level.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to take the step up into middle leadership, or for a teacher who is looking for a new challenge.

The PE department at MGS is one which has undergone significant change overseen by the outgoing member of staff and we are looking to appoint someone who is able to both maintain the progress that has been made, whilst continuing to build the profile of physical education in the school community and beyond.

The school offers Cambridge Technical and Cambridge National in Sports Science at KS4 and 5 with numbers opting to study the subject growing year on year.

With strong subject knowledge and the ability to lead a small team, you will be responsible for the implementation and development of the PE curriculum in line with the latest pedagogical and subject based research.

The ability to offer a second subject, would be advantageous.

The school is a small school (approximately 350 students on role) with class sizes not exceeding 20, serving the Orthodox Jewish Community in North West London.

The school is served by good transport links, with the Northern line a ten-minute walk away and a regular bus services stopping a 2-minute walk from the school.

For further information about this post, or to arrange a

tour of the school, please contact Mr. S. Isaacs (Associate Headteacher) s.isaacs@menorahgrammar.barnet.sch.uk or 020 8906 9756.

The school will be monitoring applications as they are received and reserves the right to hold interviews and appoint in advance of the closing date should an outstanding candidate emerge.

Menorah Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff to share this commitment and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and other relevant checks with statutory bodies.
