The Post: Head of Boys PE

From September 2023 we are looking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and innovative Head of Boys Physical Education. This role is second in charge of Physical Education across the school, deputizing for the Head of Department in their absence.to appoint an outstanding Head of Boys PE to join the College. 

The successful candidate will teach in an exceptional department which is both extremely popular and successful. In 2022 96% of GCSE candidates gained 9-4 with 42% gaining 9-8 and at A Level 80% gained A*/B out of which 20% gained A*/A.

 

Responsibilities:

•           To lead on all aspects of boys PE

•           To lead on Football

•           To lead and manage all areas of the A Level provision in Physical Education.

•           To lead on all aspects of Student Leadership, including chairing the SJC Sports Council.

•           To liaise with the examination board and exam officer on all KS5 issues

•           To take operational responsibility for daily PE and sport activity along with the CTL

•           To lead a minimum of 2 sports teams and at least 5 ECA’s in total per week.

•           To assist with the organisation of Sports Awards Evening

•           To assist with the organisation of Sports Day

•           To chair and organise meetings of the Physical Education and sports teams in the absence of the HOD

•           To undertake any reasonable duty as requested by the Headteacher, or PE HOD

 

The successful applicant will have the following:

 

A certified teaching qualification with exceptional subject knowledge and experience of leading a high performing teaching team.

Experience teaching GCSE and A-Level or equivalent. We are seeking to appoint talented, highly motivated and well-qualified individuals. You should have a proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching. 

At least 2 years’ experience of the National Curriculum for England. 

To be considered for these posts you must hold a B.Ed. or degree and PGCE / PGDE or equivalent. The successful applicant will possess the willingness to commit to Extra Curricular activities.
