Job overview

Ensuring that the success rates and value added performance improves towards outstanding, the Head of Section will be responsible for the leadership, management and monitoring of FE Business and Academic programmes and for the teams delivering these programmes.


You will also be responsible for the recruitment, conduct and progress of all students on all programmes within this Section and must ensure that all the Sections programmes meets the needs, standards and requirements of all partners, including awarding bodies, employers and higher education institutions.


This role demands an individual who holds a Degree (or relevant professional qualification) in an appropriate subject and who has excellent teaching skills, recognised as a good or better teacher on BTEC Business programmes. Hardworking and flexible, you will have experience of leading in a BTEC Business curriculum area and have a track record of making sustained improvements.


With a strong vision for the improvement and development of the curriculum area, you will have experience of successfully monitoring and supporting ‘at-risk’ learners to achieve or exceed their potential and be receptive to new ideas with a creative approach to problem solving. You will have current knowledge of impending curriculum changes and the implications for teaching and learning strategies, and be experienced in managing, supporting and developing staff.


We’d also like you to hold a teaching qualification or be willing to achieve one in line with current regulations.
