The British International School Bratislava is looking for an experienced Head of Business and Economics whose responsibility will be involved in the delivery of both subjects from Year 10 -13 in the Secondary School.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication, organizational and classroom management skills meet deadlines and work well under pressure. A genuine interest in the all-round welfare of students is essential as is being able to work independently and as a member of a team. As well as teaching, the colleague would be expected to develop assessments, contribute to schemes of work, keep detailed student records and take an active part in the development of the faculty. Ideas and initiatives are welcomed.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • The teacher will be involved in the delivery of Business and Economics throughout the Secondary School:
  • Years 10 and 11 prepare for the IGCSE Business Studies examination, as offered by the Cambridge Board (CIE). Years 12 and 13 follow the International Baccalaureate(IB), with many students choosing to follow Economics or Business Management.
  • Assessment at KS4& 5, with progress targeted and tracked at regular intervals in collaboration with class tutors. While IGCSE and IB grades are used for older students, target setting and tracking continues throughout the school.

Description of the Faculty:

  • Teaching rooms are equipped with a computer linked to a data projector and, in most cases, an interactive whiteboard. The department has a wide range of resources and texts available, including ICT resources to support Business and Economics learning.

  • Foster a genuine interest in and enjoyment of your subject as an exciting, relevant and rewarding area of the curriculum
  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for all students in accordance with the curricular policies of the School.

The British International School Bratislava is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational all-through independent school with sixth form in Slovakia, serving students from the age of 2-18. The all-through school is situated in Bratislava. 

The British International School Bratislava opened in 1997 and welcomes students from over 42 nationalities every year. Students follow an international curriculum, studying towards IGCSE exams and later an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Facilities include a dance studio, gym, a theatre, science laboratories, outdoor play areas and sports courts. Pupils are taught in English and offered Slovak language lessons.
