Head of Business & Economics

TLR 2b

Required for start in September 2018

The Boswells School is looking to appoint a dynamic Head of Business & Economics. This role would suit a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic teacher looking to progress in leadership. There are great opportunities to work alongside industries to make Business ‘come to life’ for the students. The uptake of Business for GCSE and A Level is exceptional and there are many opportunities to excel in this already dynamic department. The successful candidate will have a confident understanding of the curriculum and the ability to inspire students through their passion for the subjects with a firm belief in the potential of all students.

The role involves working with our Head of Faculty for Business, Computing and Technology and to ensure an excellent curriculum provision. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high quality Business & Economic lessons in KS4 & KS5 and to develop an already strong Business team. You will need to be flexible and teach across the Faculty. You will be joining a school with enthusiastic and dedicated leaders at senior and middle leadership levels and a commitment to the professional development of staff. The Boswells School is keen to embrace an approach that is centered on teaching and learning and the academic attainment for our students. Business is an important element of our curriculum for all students and the role will allow you to lead the Business & Economics Department.

The Boswells School is an 11-18, very successful, popular and oversubscribed school in the Springfield area of Chelmsford, Essex. In 2017, 82% of all students achieved a Grade 4+ in English and 75% of students achieved a Grade 4+ in Mathematics. Both of these measures are significantly above the national averages for these subject areas, as was the percentage of students achieving a ‘strong pass’ (Grade 5+). Just under 30% of all GCSE grades awarded were at A*/A and 79% at A*-C grade. At A, Level 55% of all grades awarded were at A*-B, 84% of all grades were at A*-C and 99% of all grades awarded were pass grades

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Application forms are available from Mrs G Travers, PA to Head of School, on gts@boswells-school.com or 01245 264451.
