We are looking to appoint a dynamic and forward thinking Head of Faculty who is a motivated and inspirational leader to lead this newly formed faculty. This is an exciting new opportunity to lead and manage the amalgamation of the Business and ICT/Computer Science departments and take them into a new era and build upon the excellent progress and attainment in each area and continue to raise standards.


Joseph Leckie Academy is a vibrant, exciting and innovative mixed 11-18 Converter Academy with an overall progress score of +0.46.  With our excellent results and our continual desire and drive to continue moving forward, this is an exciting time for you to join our team. The Academy has remained for three years as the top non-selective secondary school for progress in Walsall and is one of the highest performing secondary schools in the region. Most of our students remain with us into the Sixth form.

We are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner and proven leader who is passionate about their subject to join our team of highly skilled staff in delivering outstanding lessons to our exceptional students. 


In Business we offer the BTEC Level 2 Technical in Business and Enterprise and, BTEC Award in Travel and Tourism at Key Stage 4. At Key Stage 5 we deliver a Level 2 Certificate in Enterprise and at Level 3, BTEC National in Business (Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business and Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Business. 

In ITC/Computer Science, we offer a two-year KS3 programme and at Key Stage 4 we offer the BTEC Tech Award in Digital Information Technology and the OCR GCSE Computer Science. At KS5, we follow the AQA A-Level Computer Science curriculum, alongside the BTEC National Extended Certificate in IT. We also offer a level 2 qualification, the OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Certificate in IT at KS5. 


Business Studies, ICT and more recently Computer Science are popular choices at both Key Stage 4 and 5 with excellent success rates in Business Studies and improving results in ICT and Computer Science.

The successful candidate must:

• have a relevant degree or related subject and hold a UK teaching qualification with QTS or equivalent

• be an outstanding practitioner and be able to teach Business Studies and or ICT/Computer Science and related subjects, preferably with experience at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 as well as academic and vocational qualifications.

• be able to lead, promote and develop the newly formed

• be a successful, highly organised leader with at least four years’ experience in teaching or equivalent experience

• have experience of leading a department or at least a Key Stage or other TLR responsibilities or other roles within their current establishment and show how this has impacted on students and/or staff

• have the ability to motivate,  inspire and go the extra mile for our students

• have the ability to stimulate curiosity, interest and enjoyment in Business Studies/ICT/Computer Science

• be able to inspire students and get the best from them 

• be positive, enthusiastic and resilient

• be an effective team member

• have a clear understanding of transforming teaching and learning

• have highly developed inter – personal skills and excellent ICT skills

• be ambitious for further career development and enhancement

• have the ability to teach a second subject, if required and/or contribute to the delivery of our PDP programme at KS4 or Enrichment at Post 16.

• have a clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and equal opportunities
