Abbot’s School School is a large, highly successful special school educating over 200 students aged 3-19, who, due to their Autism and associated complex needs, require specialist support and care to succeed academically and achieve their full potential. Our students’ needs range from requiring additional pastoral and emotional support, to those with learning difficulties, through to some having complex health problems.
This, therefore, is a vital senior role responsible for driving and delivering the School’s unique Philosophy of Education – the ASD Model ©, underpinning:
A – Academic Progress
S – Specialist Support
D – Development of Life Skills
You will be required to support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership of Abbot’s Lea School by taking a lead on care and safeguarding matters to maximise students’ wellbeing and family engagement.
As the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the School, you will develop and implement the Schools’ policies and procedures in relation to the safeguarding, care and wellbeing of students, in line with national, statutory and local authority requirements and best practice guidance. You will also deliver training to staff and other stakeholders.
You will work collaboratively with other school staff in order to achieve the School’s key goals as well as work closely with the students’ families and other professionals.
You will have significant relevant training in the care and safeguarding of young people.
