Job overview

Located in a safe, rural setting the successful applicant will have responsibility for up to three residential homes and expected to ensure the level of care is consistent across all provision, build occupancy, support care staff and manage a team in developing the children's skills in a safe and nurturing environment. The Care Manager will work closely with the education team in New Barn School, ensuring there is a smooth and ongoing transition in learning between school and the homes. The school is adjacent to the homes and provides specialist education for young people aged 7-19 years old with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and associated difficulties.

The Care Manager will be responsible for ensuring that there is adequate levels of staffing at all times. Offer support and direction to all members of the residential staff team. Identify the training needs of residential staff so as to promote their personal and professional development. Actively manage the budget of the homes and ensure that the business remains viable and in line with key performance indicators. Actively seek to expand the residential provision through promoting Treehouse Educare to regional and national commissioning teams, exploring development opportunities accordingly.

New Barn School is part of Treehouse Educare Ltd., which consists of our school and two children’s homes. We are registered for children aged 7 - 19 and currently have 80 children on roll with development plans in place to exceed to 120. New Barn School has been awarded Autism Accreditation by The National Autistic Society, the UK’s leading charity for people on the autism spectrum and their families.

Newbarn School is a special school that caters for students with high-functioning autism and associated difficulties. All of our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

New Barn School is a purpose-built facility with the interior designed by architects experienced in creating spaces for people on the autism spectrum. The modern building enables us to offer a broad, balanced, engaging and challenging curriculum that will provide the greatest opportunities for successful outcomes for our students.

The main building, which extends across two floors, incorporates six classrooms as well as a science room, food technology room, ICT suite, art studio, hall, intervention room, 1:1 room, first-aid room, kitchen, dining room and offices. There is also a sports hall and a separate building for vocational skills (including a music room).

We have been open since January 2017 and have received our OFSTED inspection which rated us a GOOD school in 2022. We are proud of our pupils and all that they achieve on a regular basis at Newbarn and we are excited for the future success we will experience.

We have dedicated and well-trained staff who are supported by an excellent senior leadership team and together with pupils, parents and families, aim to provide exceptional outcomes for young people.
