On Track Education Centre, Wisbech 

We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic education professional to lead the On Track Education Centre in Wisbech. The not for profit independent special school opened in January 2006 and is registered for 24 students aged 11 to 19 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. 

Currently, there are 15 students of both genders on roll, who have histories of educational difficulties, poor attendance and/or exclusion from mainstream education. Many have histories of severe challenging behaviour and mental health issues. Half of the students have a statement of special educational needs for behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. Many have additional disabilities and special educational needs which include specific learning difficulties, dyslexia, social communication difficulties, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism. Students are taught through individualised learning approaches using selected elements from the National Curriculum and external accreditation, including GCSEs, BTEC and Level 1 & 2 qualifications. The curriculum provides a wide range of academic, vocational and outdoor learning experiences to sustain students’ interest and re-engage them with education.

The school’s mission is to provide students with a sense of success and positive achievement in their personal and academic skills. This is approached by treating every student with unconditional support and an emphasis on supporting them to be better able to make positive choices; through an ongoing encouragement of good decisions, our students internalize the capacity to make positive choices, which means a real and genuine change can take place.

We are interested in hearing from qualified teachers with proven leadership and SEN experience, the commitment and the desire to meet the academic and non-academic needs of every student in the school. 

The successful candidate will provide leadership and management of the On Track Education Centre in order to secure its success and continual improvement.

Salary: £40,215 - £51,000 dependent on qualifications and experience
