East Riding of Yorkshire Council is a high performing unitary authority where education is an absolute priority. The county has 125 schools and 25 academies and there are strong relationships across the education community. Since the East Riding School Improvement Partnership was formed in 2014 the proportion of schools and academies judged as good or outstanding by Ofsted has risen from 50% to 84%.
Following the retirement of our current Head of Service, we are looking for someone who is passionate about education and who can build on recent success. As the lead education professional, you will have the credibility to sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders. You will lead our Improvement and Learning Service, drive forward our work to further close the achievement ‘gap’, and take the lead for planning school places and school organisation. You will be a key member of the Directorate Management Team, contributing to the wider children’s services agenda and deputising for the Director of Children’s Services as required. In addition, you will be a member of the Council-wide Senior Management Team playing a key role in the overall management of the Council.
We are looking for a strategic thinker who will lead and shape the service as the educational landscape continues to change. You will need to be both innovative and resilient as you lead the local response to changes in national policy and education funding.
