The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) is a unique national resource of expertise, with highly skilled and expert staff who understand the wide spectrum of visual impairments and the techniques and resources required to support young people achieve their full potential.

The College offers a range of courses from Entry Level to Level 3. The curriculum is highly individualised, and students are able to combine academic and vocational qualifications to create a programme that meets their personal aspirations. These are underpinned by the residential provision and holistic independence training, preparing students for their transition into adulthood.

The post of Head of College is new, arising out of a Board review of the College's executive structure. The Board's aim in creating this structure was to ensure that the Head of College is able to focus on strategic leadership for and quality of student provision.

The vacancy of Head of College is an opportunity for the right candidate to play a leading role at a national specialist college which has a global reputation for excellence. We are seeking a dedicated educationalist who is ambitious for our students, and will strive to ensure that our provision is designed, refined and improved to support and empower them to achieve the best possible outcomes and fulfil their personal potential. To succeed in this role you will be someone who fosters a culture of respect, who recognises the skills and dedication of College staff, and who has an inclusive approach which provides opportunities for colleagues to contribute to the development of its community and the learning environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate inspirational leadership and a commitment to achieving the highest standards in all areas of the College's work in order to provide an outstanding learning experience for our students. They will be accountable for the curriculum, quality, the professional development of education and residential staff, safeguarding, and inspections. They will support the Executive Principal in advising the Board and, as a member of the Senior Management Team, will play a key role in developing and implementing strategy for RNC as a whole.
