Job overview

The Headteacher and Governors of the Hammersmith Academy Trust are offering a great opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join as Head of Computer Science and ICT. The successful applicant will be a well-qualified, experienced specialist who is committed to achieving high standards and developing each child to their potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development and will include elements of curriculum leadership, pastoral leadership and potentially some academy wide responsibilities.

Ofsted – January 2022

"Hammersmith Academy continues to be a good school".

"Leaders and staff are determined that all their pupils will succeed. They have established a culture of aspiration for all, regardless of pupils’ individual starting points".

"Subject leaders’ curriculum thinking is strong. They work together effectively to identify the essential ideas and concepts that the curriculum needs to emphasise. For example, teachers of History and English collaborate to plan a Year 9 unit in which pupils learn about the Russian Revolution. Pupils then draw on their history knowledge to analyse themes in the novel ‘Animal farm’. This approach helps pupils to make links between subject content and to put their learning into context.”

We require someone who will share our passion and ambition to provide an excellent education to our students who are engaging and rewarding to work with.

If you are an outstanding leader with high expectations, who can achieve the highest standards from your students and staff team and can create a culture of success through challenge and innovation as well as instil a love of learning, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Computer Science in a way that excites and engages students.
  • Assess and track student progress to ensure academic success.
  • Contribute to our inclusive and outstanding educational ethos.

Why Join us?

  • Bespoke CPD program to support your professional growth
  • Excellent pastoral care and strong local reputation
  • Work with a dedicated team in first-class facilities
  • Comprehensive staff benefits, including free lunch
  • We aim to provide up to 20% PPA time where possible, compared with the statutory minimum of 10%
  • Two-week October Half Term
  • Strong commitment to staff wellbeing
  • Engage with aspirational students and strong parental support

Feel free to check out “50 Reasons to Work at HA” attached, but here is just a flavour of what our staff say:

  • “While students’ progress and academic data are important, the academy’s investment in the whole child is incredible. Staff provide a vast number of opportunities for students and are committed to doing this as they value this experience for the student’s development”
  • “Staff achievements are regularly recognised and rewarded. Positive comments and feedback from families and the community create a motivating atmosphere for staff”
  • “The academy offers pathways and opportunities for staff progression, utilising the skill sets of staff for further development”
  • “Each staff member is allocated a specific budget to attend CPD, including undertaking national professional qualifications”
  • “Well-being is a key aspect of the academy, and the well-being committee provides a platform for staff to voice their opinions to senior leaders and governors, leading to changes”

We would very much like to hear from you if you share our vision, values and enthusiasm. We are very happy to discuss the role informally and visits to the school are welcome.
