St Peter’s School as part of The CAM Academy trust would like to appoint a highly motivated Head of Computer Science who combines excellent organisation and management skills with the ability to lead, inspire and motivate both staff and students.  

We are a forward thinking and rapidly improving, “good” school that is creating a legacy of learning for our community. Our students Learn, Aspire and Exceed as they work with our highly skilled teaching and associate staff supporting and guiding them.  

We are currently seeking a dynamic and inspiring Head of Computer Science to join us in motivating and supporting our students to ensure outstanding attainment. For the right candidate, we are able to offer the opportunity to teach lessons across the age and ability range from highly aspirational sixth form students getting ready for University to students just starting their secondary school careers. 

The Computer Science department has shown sustained success in driving forward results, in 2017 GCSE Computing and GCSE ICT progress were both in the top 10% of the country at +1.13 +1.09 respectively. We offer Computing at A-level, and OCR National ICT at Level 3, which again have a strong achievement record, with vocational IT courses being a particular strength.   We are a supportive, hardworking and friendly team of staff with a desire to raise student achievement beyond expectation. We have extensive resources to support teaching and learning and are constantly reflecting on our curriculum to make further improvements.  Teamwork is key to everything we do, we work collaboratively together to improve our teaching and the experience every child has in Computing. 

We are seeking someone who will show their enthusiasm and be able to demonstrate their commitment by contributing to the innovation of pedagogy in our flourishing team.  We work closely with the other departments in the trust, sharing resources and supporting each other with any training requirements. 

St Peter’s prides itself in the professional development available to staff, we have had a number of staff complete a wide range of courses including NPQML, enhancement courses and training with exam board providers as well as in house training.

St Peter’s School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Cambridgeshire, serving students between the ages of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Huntingdon has approximately 983 students on record. 

St Peter’s School was established in 1870 and converted to academy status in 2011.
