Closing date for applications: 10am on Friday 15 June 2018

Please note that we reserve the right to close the vacancy prior to the application deadline/closing date once a sufficient number of applications have been received.

Computer Science and ICT at Orleans Park

All students in Year 7 and 8 have an hour-long period of Computing a week. In these lessons students develop computing and programming skills using programmes like Python, as well as developing their digital literacy and understanding of safer internet use. At Year 9, as students begin to opt for their GCSE courses, the school offers both GCSE Computing and an applied ICT course, having four one hour periods over a two week period for this; this increases to five periods in Year 10 and 11. Students can progress onto A Level Computer Science in our Sixth Form, with some students opting to continue this into further study at university.

The department’s results are very strong at both GCSE and A-level and our students enjoy the subject and the opportunities it affords them.

We have three large suites exclusively for Computer Science and ICT teaching, with two further small suites dedicated for Sixth Form use.  There are a number of small ICT suites in Art, Modern Languages, Design Technology, English, Music and the library. Each suite has a colour laser printer, a black laser printer and an interactive whiteboard. There are also laptops available to use for A Level Computing projects and there is Wi-Fi capability throughout the school.
