Head of Computing and ICT, Full time from September 2017

We are looking for an inspirational and dynamic Head of Department  to develop and deliver Computer Science throughout the curriculum and to contribute to broader projects within the school.  You will have ambition for the development of the subject and be committed to academic excellence at all levels. 

The successful candidate will have a strong command of computer theory and programming with a good Computer Science degree.  Candidates must be conversant with technological developments within the curriculum.   Applicants should be able to motivate students and colleagues and demonstrate outstanding management and classroom skills.  A willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities is expected. 

We are looking for someone who is academically talented, a good team player and who is able to stretch the brightest students beyond the standard curriculum.  The key skills, experience and ability we are seeking in the successful candidate will include a balance of the following:

  • Proven experience in teaching Key Stage 3 Computing and ICT
  • The ability to employ a range of effective teaching, learning styles and assessment methods
  • Up to date with professional developments relating to digital strategy and e-Learning
  • Excellent knowledge of the role of computing and ICT in the 21st Century classroom
  • An interest in and the ability to enthuse about technology
  • The ability to use assessment data to inform planning and set targets
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • The aim to raise achievement for all through the ability to motivate and inspire students
  • The ability to establish good working relationships and show effective team work
  • The ability to generate ideas and drive initiatives through to implementation
  • A level of open-mindedness and a forward thinking approach
  • Enthusiasm and commitment with a passion for teaching
  • Willingness to contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom

As the Head of Computing and ICT, you will be required to lead, manage, motivate and inspire the Computing and ICT Department to ensure that the computing curriculum is delivered to the highest possible standard.  In addition, you will be delivering exciting and innovative lessons across all key stages. You will promote the use of ICT in teaching and learning and be aware of developments in the use of ICT both in other schools and in industry.
