Job overview

We are looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner to lead the development of our KS4 curriculum and our KS3 intervention programme. The successful candidate will oversee the teaching and learning of the SPACE Learning Centre and will lead on the tracking of the students’ academic progress.

The Head of Curriculum Development will work alongside the Head of Centre and the Head of Student Development in a small leadership team to implement new learning initiatives and set the vision for the future of the SPACE Learning Centre.

As part of the role you will be required to teach small groups, both independently and in support of other staff. The Head of Curriculum Development will manage a small team of delivery staff.

Ideally, a teacher with experience of alternative education or challenging education environments, the Head of Curriculum Development will be able to demonstrate that they are an innovative academic leader and manager of people, with a passion to help young people fulfil their potential.

We welcome applications from all subject specialisms. Visits to our centre are also welcome.

An opportunity to join our exciting provision

The Trust is the incorporation of the School Behaviour and Attendance Partnership (SBAP) in North Ashfield. To date, the partnership between Ashfield School, Kirkby College, Quarrydale Academy and Sutton Community Academy has been extremely effective in lowering permanent exclusion rates and supporting young people at risk of permanent exclusion. However, our work isn’t exclusively about behaviour; we support students from a variety of backgrounds, and with a wide range of issues that often make access to mainstream education a challenging prospect.

The partnership established the highly successful SPACE Learning Centre almost six years ago, providing intervention and alternative education in North Ashfield. Year on year the partnership has grown, as the demand for support from schools has increased. This role has been created to support that growth, and to provide fresh insight and ideas to our education programmes.
