New College Durham Academies Trust comprises of two large Academies, Consett Academy and North Durham Academy, located some six miles apart in North West Durham.  New College Durham, is our lead sponsor and both Academies are located in multi million pound new builds, offering unrivalled state of the art facilities for our students and communities in Consett and Stanley.  

North Durham Academy is seeking to appoint an inspiring individual to work as an integral member of the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team.  As Pastoral lead for the Academy, you will develop, monitor and measure the impact of a whole school strategy for Inclusion in liaison with other Deep Support Leaders.

This is an exciting time to join us, having recently appointed a National Leader of Education as our Principal.

Head of Deep Support – Grade 7 - whole time                                £34,788 - £38,813 pa (actual salary)

The successful candidate will lead and be responsible for the line management of Year Managers to ensure the educational, emotional and social needs of students, particularly disadvantaged and vulnerable students are met.

You will liaise with Deep Experience and the Academy Lead for KS4 Data and 121 to ensure that all vulnerable and SEN students have appropriate access arrangements in place for all examinations; train CSWs and 121 tutors in how to best support students and prepare programmes of support for anxious students.

Working closely with Deep Experience, Deep Support leads and with the SENCO, you will ensure that all KS4 students are assessed for access arrangements from Y9 and this provision is monitored and impact assessed every year.

Additionally, you will lead on the compilation and timely submission of relevant information and data relating to all key performance indicators (e.g. attendance, exclusions, behaviour incidents, rewards) required for the monitoring purposes (Census, SLT, LGB, ATB and external quality assurance e.g. Ofsted).

As well as excellent interpersonal skills, you must have resilience and empathy and be able to work effectively under pressure.
