Siddal Moor Sports College has an exciting vacancy for a permanent Head of Department for Expressive Arts (Art, Photography, Drama, Dance, Music and Creative Media).  We are looking for someone with the enthusiasm and drive to join this department, contributing to its well-established tradition of success.

You will be a Teacher of Performing Arts, (applications welcome from teachers with a specialism in Dance, Drama, Creative Media or Music), with a proven track record of success at KS4 who has the determination and talent to make a difference in the life of each and every student you teach; a teacher who shares our vision and can inspire our young people to achieve more than they believe is possible.

As a school, we pride ourselves on innovative practice, the well-being of staff and a commitment to the success of all students, both academically and pastorally.  If this sounds like you, we want you to be part of our team.

We are a comprehensive school with improving GCSE results across many subjects; we are recognised as one of the highest performing schools in the region in terms of Expressive Arts Key Stage 4 outcomes.  Our careers support is equally impressive, with the school having recently achieved 100% of leavers in full-time education, training or employment.

To further support the development of the school we are in the process of converting to a Multi-Academy Trust with Hollingworth Academy – an outstanding local secondary school.  This relationship will further strengthen the improvements made and ensure every one of our young people is supported to become the best they can be.

We are committed to professional development for all staff, regardless of role.  We have an innovative staff development programme, which truly empowers teachers to take control of their own professional development.  For those striving for career development, we provide funded places on nationally recognised middle and senior leadership development programmes. Regardless of what point you are at in your career and whatever your aspirations may be, Siddal Moor Sports College can support you to achieve them.

Our excellent facilities complement a committed, hard-working and supportive staff.  We value the well-being of all our staff and we can offer a range of benefits to working at Siddal Moor:

• Designated well-being time (late start or early leave)

• Free use of gym facilities

• Staff activities, including yoga and sport

• Ample parking

• Teachers’ Pension Scheme

• Funded CPD places for nationally recognised qualifications

• Full induction programme and personal coach

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring background check.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and services users and to provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement.

The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is Friday 24th January 2020 at 12.00 noon.  Interviews will be held during the week commencing Monday 27th January 2020.

An application pack and further details are available to download here and from our website: www.siddalmoor.uk.  Applications should be submitted by email to ThompsonL@siddalmoor.uk
