Job overview

At Thomas Becket Catholic School we believe that it is not enough to love the children, but that they have to know that they are loved. Our Mission Statement, “Christ’s Love is our Foundation” is the basis of all we do, driven by our Core Values and the belief that loving the children means supporting, challenging and caring for them to help them become fully rounded people who achieve excellent academic results.

At Thomas Becket Catholic School our mission is to serve our community with Christ’s Love as Our Foundation. The school values lie at the heart of the education here at Thomas Becket, with every member of staff being challenged and encouraged daily ‘to love the children and make them aware that they are loved.’

The school now seeks a passionate and committed professional to lead our RE Department and join the mission at Thomas Becket Catholic school to create an extraordinary school founded in Christ’s love.

We seek a practising Catholic who, by personal example and professional leadership, will ensure that the Catholic ethos, founded in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, permeates all aspects of school life.

Over the last three years, Thomas Becket Catholic School, has developed and grown in every direction. With ethos and Catholic Life at its heart, the school has gone from strength to strength. In June 2019 the school received a ‘Good’ from its Section 48 inspection and the school continues to flourish. It is our belief that RE should be at the heart of the school and we are excited to meet candidates with faith, ambition and vision to take our school to the next level.

In a survey this year 100% of staff advised that they believed in the leadership and direction of the school. We have a fantastic commitment to professional development and believe that the right person can make a real difference. Each week we spend an hour and a half on professional development through energetic pedagogy driven sessions, breakouts, coaching and other professional activities. With an abundance of leadership opportunities in a growing and improving school this is a great time to join the school.

Visits to the school are welcomed with the opportunity to see the school, and meet the Head, recommended. All visits will follow appropriate health and safety guidelines. Visits can be arranged by contacting Nicki Sparrow, PA to the Headteacher at SparrowN@thomasbecket.org.uk and will be carried out following government guidelines.

All our staff uphold the Core Values and Catholic ethos of the school regardless of religious denomination as we work as a community for our children. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS clearance in line with our Safer Recruitment Policy.

Please come and visit us and see what makes us special.
