Job Description

We are seeking a well-organized, dedicated Math’s specialist to lead our dynamic and popular Mathematics department. The successful candidate will have experience teaching the IB curriculum and will be prepared to teach across all high school levels. While experience as a Head of Department is not a requirement, the candidate must be enthusiastic about contributing to the development of our curriculum and helping to raise standards and expectations within the department. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team and make a significant impact on the educational experience of our students.


Key Responsibilities:

  •  Lead and support a department of 6 teachers, fostering collaboration, professional development, and a positive departmental culture.
  • Ensure that the Mathematics Curriculum is well-planned, rigorous, and delivered effectively for all students aged 11 to 18.
  • Promote the integration of technology in teaching and learning, enhancing instructional strategies and student engagement.
  • Lead and guide the department in the development and implementation of formative and summative assessments, ensuring high standards in tracking and supporting student progress.
  • Participate in weekly Head of Department meetings with the Head of IB and the Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure alignment across the curriculum and strategic planning for the department.
  • Stay up to date with any changes or new initiatives in the IBDP curriculum, ensuring the department is prepared for upcoming modifications.
  • Teach a number of classes within the department, demonstrating leadership in the classroom and modeling best practices for teaching mathematics.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Teaching certification and relevant qualifications for IB Mathematics.
  • Solid understanding of IB assessment criteria, both for internal and external assessments, and experience with interdisciplinary learning approaches.
  • Strong technological skills, including proficiency with digital tools for mathematical modeling and instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with other educators and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills, with a focus on building strong relationships within the department and across the school community.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience teaching IB Mathematics at both HL and SL levels in an IB-accredited school.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive classroom environment that respects diversity and promotes a love of learning.
  • Previous leadership experience or a demonstrated potential to lead in a department, with a focus on elevating educational standards and guiding curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply new pedagogical strategies to enhance student learning outcomes in Mathematics.
