Aorere College, a co-educational, state secondary school located in Auckland, is looking for an inspirational leader to take the helm of the Mathematics department. This position would suit someone with prior leadership experience or is an opportunity for someone ready to take that next career step. 

You will lead a well-resourced Mathematics department of fourteen staff. Students are excelling in this area and as Head of Department you will be influential in further increasing this positive momentum.

You will have belief in the ability of all young people and a commitment to working in a multi-cultural, student-focused environment.  You will have a positive attitude towards learning, great classroom management skills, and a genuine care for the well-being of students.  Curriculum experience and knowledge in Mathematics to senior level is essential, with relevant, advanced tertiary qualifications and a recognised teaching qualification also required.

As an integral part of Aorere College’s vision, which is “Working closely with our community to grow high-achieving young men and women with the character, confidence and qualifications for future success” you will be involved with students inside and outside the classroom, and will be expected to participate in the extra-curricular life of the school.   This proud school has a history of producing successful alumni with professional sportspeople and successful musicians amongst their graduates.

Aorere College is a co-educational secondary school for students aged 13-18. It is based in Auckland in New Zealand. 

Aorere College provides a broad curriculum at both junior and senior level, which includes an emphasis on the development of the essential skills of literacy and numeracy. Students, however, are also given the opportunity to develop skills across the full range of other learning areas. Junior classes are generally mixed ability, but there is the opportunity for more gifted students to work at an accelerated level.  Supported learning classes are also provided for students working well below expected curriculum levels. The school also offers a range of programmes in association with tertiary providers which provide for career pathways such as construction, mechanical engineering, plumbing, hospitality and catering. There is also internet access available across the school.
