Job overview

We are seeking a highly dynamic and suitably qualified teacher to lead our thriving and successful DT department. Our facilities are excellent and include a laser cutter, a 3D printer and a suite of CAD enabled computers. With a full-time technician on hand to support, linked classrooms and a very productive and supportive group of colleagues across the school, the successful applicant will be given every opportunity to thrive, maintain their teaching to the highest of standards, and be part of a supportive and collegiate team.

We can genuinely boast about our exciting KS3 curriculum, high demand at KS4 matched by excellent outcomes, and unique and creative practice at KS5, with a significant proportion of our A Level students going on to study a product-design related subject at university or in higher education.

In addition to excellent teaching and learning in the department, with results being among the highest in the school, we offer a number of exciting enrichment opportunities that support and develop our students’ understanding of the subject area. We have two Greenpower cars which regularly race and compete in the southern region, and our Y7 students take part in the Bloodhound Rocket Car Challenge. This year one of our teams will be representing the school in the international finals to be held at the Imperial War Museum.

If you believe you have the drive, passion and vision to join us and lead the department to even greater things, we look forward to receiving an application by Monday 20 May, with interviews taking place on Wednesday 22 May.

About The Priory CofE Voluntary Aided School

The Priory School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school.

This means that the education that we provide offers more than academic rigour and excellence. Our rates of progress are outstanding; these are enhanced and extended by our school values which are at the heart of everything we do.

The combination of academic challenge and support, the breadth and range of our curriculum and the close links we have locally and with the wider world mean that we are ‘serving our community’ and ‘educating for life in all its fullness’ every day.

We firmly believe that our values of hope, wisdom, dignity and community are meaningful, desirable and relevant foundations on which all young people can start to build their adult lives.

Schools have been set up by the Church of England for more than two centuries with the intention of educating the children of the parish. At The Priory, the vast majority of our students come from local C of E primary schools such as St Paul’s, St Martin’s, St John’s, The Weald and Surrey Hills. In addition we warmly receive students from other Dorking schools such as Powell Corderoy, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and North Downs, clearly indicating that we are open and welcoming to students and families of other faiths and of no faith
