Job overview

Head of Design and Technology

We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a Head of Design and Technology to join our dedicated team at The Nuneaton Academy from September 2023. All DT specialists are welcome to apply, however the ability to offer food technology or resistant materials would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be responsible for strategically leading and co-ordinating curriculum development, whilst also ensuring high quality teaching and learning, achievement and progress of students in the Faculty of Technology and Art.

We want it to be easy for our staff to help pupils achieve well and be prepared for a successful future. That is why we continually review how we work to accelerate pupil progress whilst importantly reducing staff workload. We welcome applications from candidates who are attracted by the opportunities of working within our Trust and would be excited to move forwards in this exciting new chapter for the school.

The Nuneaton Academy is an 11-16 coeducational secondary school based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We are located within a commutable distance from Coventry, Leicester and Birmingham. The school is on a rapid journey of improvement and has the foundations to be a great school serving its local community. At The Nuneaton Academy we strive to deliver an academically rich curriculum in our modern building with state of the art facilities. We are currently undergoing a huge transformation and are very excited about the proposal for us to join United Learning later this year, the largest Multi-Academy Trust in the UK. You could be part of this change!

Why Join The Nuneaton Academy?

• To be part of exciting future for our school, staff and students!

• An excellent opportunity for career progression

• An ambitious leadership team with a clear vision for the Academy

• High quality new build/extensively refurbished learning environments and facilities

• Working with a fantastic team of staff dedicated to improving the lives of children

• Clear leadership within the Academy focused upon outstanding teaching and learning

Welcome to Nuneaton Academy, where transformation and the pursuit of excellence are at the heart of our educational journey. We are a dedicated team that strives to bring out 'the best in everyone.' Guided by Our Nuneaton Norms, we are committed to creating a learning environment that is not only academically enriching but also emotionally supportive. Nuneaton Academy is an 11-16 coeducational secondary school based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We are located within a commutable distance from Coventry, Leicester and Birmingham.

We are part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
