With access to new facilities, this is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a well-qualified candidate.  We seek a positive, conscientious and assertive Head of Department to join our ambitious, high achieving and well-resourced Design & Technology department.  The department benefits from cutting edge technology and state of the art workshops.

As Head of Design Technology, you will become an integral part of our dynamic and exciting group of middle leaders.  You will appreciate the full support of our senior leadership team in taking the department to the next level.  You will enjoy working alongside a group of accomplished and experienced professionals and will be joining a strong department which delivers to both GCSE and A Level students.   Last year GCSE pupils achieved over 88% 9-4 in Design & Technology and 88% 9-4 in Engineering.  BTEC Engineering Level 3 students all achieved Distinction* grades.  Product Design students at KS5 achieved 83% A*-C.

The successful candidate will be required to teach Design & Technology, specialising in the teaching of either Engineering, Product Design or Graphics.

Subjects in the department are popular options at KS4 and KS5 currently offering Design & Technology, Graphic Design and Engineering at KS4 and Engineering and Product Design at KS5.  The successful candidate will share in our belief that the key to raising standards and levels of engagement is through high quality learning and teaching.

The department values both traditional and cutting edge technologies and is well equipped to deliver both.  The building includes three workshops and two computer suites, with areas set aside for 3D printing and laser cutting projects.

Queensmead School is based in South Ruislip, Middlesex, and is a ‘Good’, oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive school where students achieve very highly and display ‘excellent behaviour’ (Ofsted).  It currently has around 1,450 students.

Technology is a key part of the education environment, with devices such as visualisers, iPads and Chromebooks a regular classroom feature. Queensmead offers students the chance to participate in activities such as music tuition and sports, with facilities including basketball courts, a fitness zone and access to five-a-side football pitches. International experiences offered to secondary students include language development in France, Germany and Spain, trekking excursions in Morocco, and skiing in Italy and Austria.
