Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding teacher to lead Frensham’s Design & Technology Department.

Students in Year 5 to Year 9 have dedicated Design & Technology lessons each week with the opportunity to take 3D Design GCSE and 3D Design A Level in Years 10-13.

The successful candidate will demonstrate passion, drive, imagination and vision, inspiring staff, and students alike to reach their potential in the next phase of the Design & Technology Department’s development.

The Design & Technology department is very well equipped with two multi workshops and a dedicated design suite with computer facilities. The current uptake for both 3D Design GCSE and A Level is excellent, and it is a popular subject choice.

The school competes in Greenpower Formula 24 racing, run by the Design & Technology staff, and finished 2nd (in class) at the International Final last season.

We reserve the right to appoint before the closing date.

Frensham Heights is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.

Values and vision

Frensham Heights School has nine core values: heritage, ambition, respect, equality, tolerance, self-discipline, cooperation, creativity and community. The school wishes to demonstrate these values, such as respect through example, believing that both teachers and students need to give and earn this to build a sound learning foundation. Pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential and are exposed to many opportunities to pursue and discover new talents. The school follows a no-uniform policy and teachers are called by their first name, with the aim that everyone at all levels are treated as individual people.

The motto at Frensham Heights School is ‘Think, Create, Explore’, and students are encouraged to be both inspired and inspiring, with many extra curricular activities offered - ranging from music-based to dance related.

Independent Schools Inspectorate

“Pupils’ attitudes to learning are almost always positive, and in many cases, extremely so. Pupils are attentive to their teachers and to each other, as they respond to teachers’ questions or take part in classroom debates. By the time they leave the school, almost all pupils gain qualifications and skills which show that they are well prepared for the next stage of their education and for their future careers”.
