Brimsham Green School is seeking to appoint, from January 2020 (or earlier by negotiation) an outstanding Head of Digital Literacy and Computing, who has a track record of raising attainment, and will continue to enhance our broad and balanced curriculum. Whether you are presently a Head of Department or are looking for your first middle leadership role, you will have excellent organisation and communication skills and a demonstrable commitment to inclusive, comprehensive education. The successful candidate will lead the development of Digital Literacy and Computing across Key Stages 3-5, and make a significant contribution to extracurricular opportunities that enrich the curriculum.

Brimsham Green School was inspected by Ofsted in May and was judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas. Ofsted recognised that middle leaders at Brimsham Green School are a “cohesive team who support and challenge each other”. In addition Ofsted noted that leaders are “resolute in their ambition to improve standards but are mindful of staff’s well-being so that they can fulfil their roles effectively”. Ofsted commented that our students’ behaviour is good and that the learning environment is “positive and conducive to learning”.

• Do you passionately believe that all young people should follow a curriculum that equips them to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world?

• Can you lead our students to become digitally literate – to express themselves and develop their ideas as active participants in a digital world?

• Are you ambitious for yourself and do you inspire others to excel?

If the answer to all three of these is 'yes' and you are an inspirational leader who is ambitious for every single child, then please read on...

You would be leading and managing a team of experienced teachers who are all dedicated to equipping students with the skills and knowledge to prepare them for the next stages in their education, be it university, apprenticeship or careers with one of our prestigious local employers.  The team is driven to ensure our students receive a well-rounded education and the curriculum is enhanced with extra-curricular activities. Uptake in IT related subjects at KS4 and KS5 is very strong, an indicator of the engagement in the learning instilled in students in KS3.

At KS3 all students are taught Digital Literacy & Computing (DLC). Creative iMedia and Computer Science are popular subjects at Brimsham Green School and the successful candidate will teach both GCSE Computing and Cambridge National Creative iMedia at Key Stage 4.

Experience of teaching post-16 Level 2 and Level 3 ICT courses is essential; we currently offer both Level 2 and Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technicals in IT.

In return for your hard work, passion and commitment we offer:

• Bespoke CPD, tailored for your needs and ambitions - we firmly believe 'better never stops'.

• A supportive team of empowered middle leaders, who drive our continued school improvement, have access to excellent CPD opportunities and involve themselves fully in the wider life of the school.

• The opportunity to join a committed team of staff who believe that teaching is a great profession, and who challenge each other to excel.

Should you decide that you would like to join the staff team here at Brimsham Green School, challenging and supporting our enthusiastic learners, then we look forward to reading your completed application form. Within your supporting statement, please address the following points (this should not exceed two sides of A4):

1. Your vision for an inspirational Digital Literacy and Computing curriculum.

2. How your leadership has successfully challenged and supported students of varying prior attainment to make good progress.

3. The role you play in promoting staff and students’ resilience and accountability.

To apply please click the ‘Apply Now’ button to complete the application form or alternatively, the application form can be downloaded from our website and emailed.

The closing date for this post is 17 June 2019. If you have not heard from us by 19 June 2019, then you should assume that unfortunately you have not been shortlisted on this occasion.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
