Job overview

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, passionate, driven Drama teacher who has had experience of working with young children and works with equal efficacy independently and as part of a team. Drama holds great importance in the life of our school and the post holder will be expected to deliver innovative lessons to children across the primary age range. Drama is an individual subject in its own right at Pembridge Hall - it is not embedded within English – and has a designated specialist teaching room with an array of costumes, props and stage lighting. The candidate will be responsible for directing high quality year group productions and must also be willing to contribute fully to the school's busy extra-curricular drama programme.

Pembridge Hall is undergoing a dynamic period of development in which innovative thinking is encouraged and every teacher’s contribution is valued.

The School

Pembridge Hall is a dynamic, forward-thinking school where innovative thinking is encouraged and valued. We believe that an enriching and challenging curriculum is a fundamental right of every child: ‘challenging learning is fun; fun learning is challenging’. The ability to effectively track the attainment and progress of each child and to tailor learning accordingly are essential skills of a Pembridge Hall teacher. Teachers share a holistic vision of individual girls' progress: recognising and understanding the value of excellent pastoral care, alongside academic attainment. Parents are a valued part of our school community and staff are expected to offer bespoke and regular feedback to parents on their daughters’ learning and personal development. There is a wonderful camaraderie amongst colleagues and girls enjoy warm relationships with their teachers.

Pembridge Hall is an independent girls’ preparatory school (ages 4 – 11) of 420 girls set in a tranquil residential square in Notting Hill. Pembridge prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. It is part of the Alpha Plus Group of Schools.

Pembridge Hall and the Alpha Plus Group are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and employees of Pembridge Hall are expected to share this commitment. The protection of our students’ welfare is the responsibility of all staff within Alpha Plus Group Schools and individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of our organisation. All members of staff must have an enhanced DBS and prohibition order clearance, be aware of and follow the safeguarding, Prevent Duty, anti-bullying and behaviour and discipline policies of the school, and partake in training on safeguarding, prevent duty and personal welfare.

School Vision

Pembridge Hall recognises that our girls will enter a complex and ever-changing world which befits emotionally intelligent, resilient girls who can embrace the wonderful opportunities available to them. Pembridge girls love coming to school and gain an appreciation of wider society and the diversity of nationalities, faiths and languages represented by Pembridge families. We believe that creativity and independence of thought are as integral to the girls’ development as traditional forms of learning.

The Group

The Alpha Plus Group was founded in 1931 and currently comprises independent nurseries, schools and colleges, which have developed a longstanding reputation for delivering premium quality education. Alpha Plus Group creates centres of educational excellence. Each centre retains its own identity, with the Heads and Principals afforded significant management authority, but with the benefits of financial security, camaraderie and opportunities for sharing best practice by belonging to one of the country's leading educational groups.
