Job overview

Head of Drama

MPS/UPS + TLR 2b

Required September 2019

Your new school

Kingsway Park High School opened in September 2010 in a purpose built, state of the art building with high quality facilities and resources.  The school is a forward thinking and reflective learning community which ‘successfully brings together pupils from a wide range of backgrounds, races and cultures’ (Ofsted 2017).

Leadership is strong and effective within the school and there is an established ethos where ‘every pupil is valued’ (Ofsted 2017).  The students’ behaviour is good and positive attitudes to learning are evident throughout the school ensuring that staff can focus on delivering excellent teaching and learning, and ensuring students continue to make good progress.

The staff members work collaboratively and strive to achieve outstanding, high quality teaching that provides a safe, supportive and encouraging environment for all students.

The department.

The Drama department is a small department consisting of only TWO members of teaching staff (including the Head of Drama position).  The facilities/resources for the Drama department are outstanding and we have two designated Drama rooms that are full equipped as well as the use of the School Hall.  The Drama dept also has access to a Performing Arts Technician.  The successful candidate will also forge good links with other Performing Arts subjects such as Music and Art.

Your new role

We want someone who is an excellent practitioner with a successful track record of student outcomes in Drama.  They will need to be dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic with a real passion for their subject.  We want someone who will lead, inspire and challenge the staff that they work with.  They also need to be fully committed to staging high quality school shows / productions that are fully inclusive.

This leadership role is ideal for someone wishing to lead a small department and use it as a stepping stone to further leadership opportunities.  The successful candidate will be fully supported by the Senior Leadership Team.

What you’ll get in return

As a new member of the team you will be joining an inclusive school where staff morale is high. A quality induction, appraisal and development programme is offered to all staff members and future leaders are often grown internally making it an excellent place for career development.

We are confident that new teachers joining our school will feel welcomed and happy.
