A well reputed Academy for Girls based in Doha, State of Qatar, seeks a Head of Early Years for JANUARY 2019 Start. The Academy provides quality education aimed at nurturing the development of the whole child concept, whilst emphasising a solid foundation based on the National Curriculum of England and Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS). The Academy has a deservedly high standard reputation and is popular with families across Qatar.

The Academy operate a dual curriculum – an English National Curriculum alongside the Qatar Curriculum for Arabic, Islamic studies and social studies.

The post Head of Early Years:

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Early Years specialist to join the senior leadership team to fully support parents, students and staff as they work towards whole school improvement. This position would suit someone who is looking to expand their leadership skills in an international setting.

The Head of Early Years will be responsible for managing all staff programmes, curriculum content and assessment of the school.

The Early Years department has approx. 280 children and 41 teaching and support staff. There are 7, nursery classes, 7, reception classes and 2 crèches.

We are now looking to appoint a Head of Early Years to support the Principal to lead the school and further develop the already strong provision of the EYFS curriculum.

To improve student attainment in and progress against international standards, alongside helping every child learn and acquire Islamic knowledge and ethos that aims to serve humanity.

v To lead the development of learning and teaching practices through coaching, mentoring in order to align them with international best practice.

v To maintain sound record keeping and recording in line with Qatar Ministry of Education; National Evaluation for Early Years Educational (QNE – EYE) standards

v To improve staff understanding and assessment of the curriculum to ensure robust reporting to the school, students and parents.

v To identify and lead quality professional development for the teaching and support staff.

v To develop a culture of excellence based on continual reflection and improvement.

v To work closely with the Principal and Senior Management Team (SMT) to establish the strategic direction for the school with the focus on quality learning and teaching that will link into the Qatar Ministry of Education for National Evaluation for Early Years Educational (QNE – EYE) and WASC, to instil best Practice within in Early Years settings.

v To lead and manage significant aspects of the Early Years department under the direction of the Principal and SMT.

v To assist the Principal with the financial management of school procurement, staffing, enrolment and admissions.

v To develop and maintain excellent partnerships with parents and community members.

v Other responsibilities as directed by the Principal and Ta’allum Group.

The Successful Candidate will possess:

v Recognised Teaching qualification (B.Ed. / PGCE or equivalent)

v Significant knowledge and experience of the English National Curriculum particularly at Early Years / Foundation Stage

v Minimum 5 Years Leadership Experience

Creative, innovative and resilient, the candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills. Good IT and organisational skills are also essential.

The successful candidate will have high expectations of themselves with a professional working ethos and sound early years’ educational philosophy to drive the education agenda. This needs to be combined with exceptional; communication and leadership skills to motivate both children and staff.
