Interim Position up until 22nd December 2017

Our client is a leading provider of residential care and education packages to children, young people and adults with complex needs, including autism. Their specialist college provides for young people aged 19-25, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). A vacancy has arisen for a Head of Education within this provision.

Key Duties

- Line management of a small teaching team

- Oversight on curriculum development and delivery

- Quality assure teaching and learning provision across the college

- Work alongside team of care and clinical professionals to support individual students

- Lead on student assessment and accreditation

- Teach for equivalent of two days each week

- Review placements in line with the SEND Code of Practice

The vacancy would be suited to an excellent teacher with experience of middle/senior leadership within an SEND and/or FE setting. Desirable experience would include:

- Curriculum delivery in the SEND and/or Independent sector

- Ability to model high quality practice

- A working knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and FE curriculum

- Multiagency working

Initially the post holder will be supported by the headteacher from one of our nearby schools. Over time, it is hoped the post holder will be able to lead the education aspect of our college independently.
